Olga Danilović recently made headlines at the ongoing French Open, where she has reached the fourth round as a qualifier participant. However, hailing from Serbia, the WTA player isn’t the only one from her country who has garnered a lot of attention owing to her on-court endeavors. Emphasizing representing her country in her compatriot, Novak Djokovic’s shadow, Danilović recently made an endearing confession.
In her post-match press conference, the Serbian WTA player was asked about her compatriot’s role in their country and whether she has had any conversation with the ‘Djoker.’ Olga answered by saying, “I talked about Novak a billion times, I mean don’t get me wrong, I will talk again for me, it’s no problem I talked yesterday in the press. As I said yesterday what we have in Serbia, I don’t know if we actually like appreciate it that much cus he is the best player in the world by far and it’s just something that having that kind of person in the same sport as me.”
Danilović made it clear that she is quite glad to be staying in Djokovic’s shadow, as she also hailed her male counterpart as the ‘GOAT.’ She said, “I’m going to talk about myself, I’m not going to talk about other people but for me it’s just you know, he’s a a very humble and nice guy especially that he is number one in the world, and for me, he’s the greatest of all time, um but that he’s really proud to represent our country.” During the honest conversation, Olga also revealed that the current number-one player has helped her overcome some of her struggles on the court.

The Serbian WTA player opened up about how her compatriot is really ‘open’ when it comes to issuing some crucial bits of advice on the racket game. Olga said, “He’s really open for us to talk you know even like some things that I don’t know you know I come to him with some day to day struggles that I have on the court and he’s really happy to share his thoughts with me and what he learned and what kind of mistakes he did so maybe I don’t have to do them. So it’s just something that I try to appreciate as much as I can.”
Danilović went on to talk about how she was over the moon after winning her United Cup doubles match with the ATP superstar. Despite being in the Serb’s shadow, Olga is all praise for the ‘GOAT,’ who has inspired many of their compatriots competing on the tennis circuit.
