Man City’ve got the power!
Manchester United making progress on signing striker, admits Erik ten Hag
By signing Andre Onana and Mason Mount this summer, the Dutchman has already used up the majority of his £120 million transfer budget.
After the team’s troubles last season in front of goal, he is still determined to get a new center forward.
When Cristiano Ronaldo left in November, Burnley striker Wout Weghorst was brought in on loan to take his place. In 29 games for the Red Devils in the second part of the season, the Dutchman only scored twice.
United’s top pick is Hojlund, although the team has stated that they will not spend more than £60 million on the Dane. Given that Atalanta apparently wants £86 million for the 20-year-old, there is a problem.
Ten Hag, however, is adamant that the club is making progress in its search for a striker.
Ten Hag responded when questioned about United’s search for a striker, “We make progress, definitely.
But as you are aware, we will inform you straight when we get him.
We do all within our ability to accomplish that, is all I can say. As quickly as possible, if it were up to me. Because we need to integrate him into the team and method of playing, the earlier the better.
In an ideal world, he would already be here, but managers must sometimes deal with situations that are less than ideal.
Last season, Marcus Rashford’s goals were crucial for United.
The winger’s greatest season to date saw him score 30 goals across all competitions.
However, Ten Hag wants the team to share the goals, and he thinks Mount’s entry will be beneficial.
We are conscious that we are lacking in that area, therefore others must also contribute there. As a result, Ten Hag added, “We are looking for scoring abilities.”
Mason Mount, I believe, gives us an additional player who can both score goals and create goals, setting up players like Marcus Rashford to score more. However, as a team, we need to score more goals.
